Ebooks For Non Traditional Readers

When you market ebooks whom are you targeting?

If you said traditional book buyers you may be missing the mark.

Research tends to support the notion that traditional readers are not jumping on the bandwagon of ebook purchases. Traditional book readers like the look, feel and smell of a book in their hands. This would seem like a detrimental blow to ebooks, but perception and reality can be different.

When it comes to marketing you may be pitching your ebook to individuals who may not typically sit down to read a traditional book, but may be more than interested in sitting at their computer reading information about a very specific field of interest.

This interest could relate to their business, hobby, friendships or personal life. Ebooks are actually opening non-traditional marketing opportunities for niche writers.

As I’ve mentioned in other articles ebooks can be as few as 10,000 words and are often written in compact and skimable text formats. This aids the non-traditional reader who just wants to find the information that is most relevant to what they want to learn and avoid what they may feel less applicable.

Affiliate revenue adherents are often interested in ebook downloads to learn more about a potential program that may result in increased cash flow. Hobbyists may need some expert guidance in learning a new skill to combine with their already established skill set.

Ebooks can also be developed as business guides for new employees in large firms. These ebooks can be downloaded by new team members and reviewed for either a policy book or an overview of the business game plan. This can avoid the need for published manuals, can be updated easily and most importantly can be password protected.

If you have been looking at marketing ebooks you may want to consider the possibility of marketing your ebook to more than just traditional book buyers. In fact, some ebook publishers are not making a big deal out of traditional readers at all and often refer to their manuscripts as practical and beneficial to all.

Essentially what I am saying is that your best prospects may be those who are non-traditional readers, but have learned to look online for the information they need. More and more individuals who are not comfortable with looking things up in an encyclopedia are looking to the Internet to find the same information.

The Internet has proven a wealth of possibilities in both fun and entertaining possibilities as well as information. This has made the Internet a welcome home for virtually all people.

Ebooks can tap into this new paradigm without the need to feel you have to limited your marketing to traditional book readers.
