Ebook Guides- How to Impress Ebook Readers

Recently while reading a few e-books I bought I noticed that there were a few things that could make them a bunch easier to read. While e-books are great, it seems that many authors are leaving out some great options that would improve how easy it is to work with them, as well as how easy it is to read them.

Imagine most e-books, just like real books, only written and sold online. However, let's make it better. Let's make it as easy as we can. First of all add a table of contents, maybe an index at the back of the book. Then lets add links to the two of them, so that all the user or reader has to do is click on the link and it will take them to that section of the book.

Then you can put a next button and previous button on each page as well as a link back to the table of contents, this makes it much easier to find things in the book. Although the search function is a nice feature, having links will be just a click away. With footers and headers all of this can be accomplished.

Next you can add more visual aids through out your e-book, more screen shots of what you are doing, what actually happens. Many people are still new to the computer and internet and if your service or product would target them, you need to show as much as you can.

You can add more clip art, to give a visual aid, more screen shots, an add on video that goes along with the e-book, and increase how easy it is to get your information and use it.

Another great add on to any e-book is a One Sheet Helper. After reading a book, especially one that is teaching you something, how many times do you go back and re-read something? If you have anything in common with the general public, probably at least a few times. This is where the links, the search function, the index and the one sheet helper will come into play.

A one sheet helper is a sum up of all the important points of the book. Not exact quotes or anything like that, but reminders of what they read to have on hand when trying to apply the thoughts in the book.

While e-books are coming a long way, there is so much room left to grow to increase the satisfaction of your customers. Trying these things will be a great help.
