Making Money By Writing That Ebook-A "How To" Guide

You can make Money online by writing your very own ebook.

Sure… everyone talks about it. How you can make loads of money from writing an ebook. And… it can be done.

Firstly you need to think of a topic to write about. This is not as hard as you would think. Just think to yourself – What is it that I know a lot about? This can be anything at all. It could be anything from “different projects using leggo blocks” to “understanding why you would use Trypsin for cell culture”. The thing about online books, is that there is generally always a buyer. The internet is such a large place. However – you will find more people to buy your book if you cover a general topic (but… there will also be more competition).

Second you need to write the book. Make sure it is very well written, and that it is complete. You should have photos, and pictures (where applicable). Do not overload the book with pictures, or it will look unprofessional. But… likewise, if you have no photos, your ebook may also look unprofessional. Don’t place any affiliate or paid links in your book. People are already paying for your book, you should make money from this and not have to place affiliate links inside it. People will feel cheated, and “hard done by”, if they feel you are trying to promote certain Companies that you are affiliate with, and will not take the book seriously (and if you have further books in the series, your readers will not be coming back to buy a second book, and they will most likely not use the affiliate links you provide). You need software to write an ebook. I would recommend using Adobe Acrobat. It is very professional, and anyone can download the reader software for free. So you don’t need to provide buyers with an additional piece of software just to read your book. Adobe Acrobat is not cheap, so you should either aim to write more than one ebook, or a very popular ebook to cover your costs.

Thirdly you need to publish the book. The most professional way to do this, is through your very own website. The website should be of a high quality, and give the buyer a number of different ways to buy. You can also provide links to similar websites, to show that you are not afraid to advertise other people. Just make sure that the other websites do not offer ebooks on the same product, or you may cut your market out. You should contact similar websites to see if they will promote your book. Which brings up the topic of promotion…. Yes, you need to promote the website and book. The easiest way to do this is through paid to click links (such as google adsense), and affiliate networks (such as clickbank, and clixgalore). Because you have very little overheads with an ebook, you should offer high payouts to affiliate members. That way, they are more likely to promote your product.

I think the biggest problem for ebooks on the market today, is that there are a lot of what I call “scam ebooks”.

These are ebooks that contain a lot of information that is freely available on the internet, books that contain a large number of affiliate links, and are obviously written to make money, or books that are poorly written. To summarize, these “scam ebooks” offer very little in the way of real value to the buyer.

More often than not, you will find that buyers, who purchase a “scam book”, will not buy another ebook – for fear of wasting their money, yet again. I have been here myself, and am very wary of buying another ebook.

If a potential buyer can not see what it is he or she are buying, then they have little way of knowing whether the book is another scam ebook, or is an informative, educational, well-written manual.

There is one way to get around this, and it is a method I would recommend. You can offer a portion of the book for free. The portion that you offer, should give the reader something of real value. Something that they can take from the book, and implement. That way – the reader is thinking, “Wow – that was great – the book was well written, and high quality, and really gave me something to think about. I should get the rest of the book to see what else I can do”.

If your ebook is doing very well, you should consider getting it published, so that you can introduce it into the shops. You can also give buyers the opportunity of buying a printed version online (this also makes your ebook look more professional).
