eBook Writing: 5 Great Places To Find Winning Topics For Your eBooks

Have you ever noticed that when you focus on something it starts to show up everywhere-like when you buy a new car? Suddenly it seems like most of the cars you see on the road are the same color as the one you just bought. It’s because that is what you are focusing on.

The same is true when you are looking for winning ideas for your next ebook-they are everywhere. You just have to focus on finding them! Here are some great places to look for your next winning topic.

1. Look at your own experiences: I find that a lot of my ideas come from my own frustrations and problems. When I have an issue or problem, I figure out how to make the process easier, quicker or better and then turn it into an ebook or product idea and you can do the same!

2. Tune into the media: There are more media outlets than ever that you can tap into to find great ideas for your ebooks including: newspapers, television, news websites, blogs, social networking sites, article sites and more. Take advantage of them!

3. Keep Your Ears Open: You never know when you are going to hear a great idea. Maybe it’s hanging out at Starbucks, or while you’re having dinner in a restaurant. Keep one ear on the conversations around you but be discreet. I often used this technique to come up with great song titles (I’m a Grammy-nominated songwriter so I know it works!) but it can also provide winning ideas for ebooks!

4. Listen To Your Clients: The best way to find new ideas is to ask your clients- if you have a list. They are the ones who will be purchasing your ebooks so listen to what they want and you will sell a lot of ebooks!

If you do teleseminars another great place to find out what your clients want is by doing a q & a (question and answer)session at the end of your calls (but not on sales calls because it can take you off message.)

Also, check your email. I often get questions and suggestions from my clients in emails they send me. And, if you do free strategy sessions or a customer-appreciation day, it will give you the opportunity to find out what your clients want to know about during those as well.

5. Brainstorm:Whether you work with a coach or a mastermind partner or group, this is another great way to get ideas for your ebooks. Sometimes you’re too close to your subject and can’t see something that is right in front of you. I’ve thrown out ideas that I thought were complete the way they were, only to have someone show me how I could take the idea even further and do it even better or make even more money with it. Never underestimate the power of brainstorming.
